myspace

i have spent the last few months secretly making fun of people on myspace. i guess i don't see the point. there is certainly no visually compelling reason to look around. besides.. the internet is full of bad web pages, email, blogs, instant messages, etc... what's the fascination with myspace? i'm feeling overwellmed with ways of communicating with people! but i got on the other day anyway and found a few friends and started to figure it out. well, at least enough to create an account. yes, you can now find me on myspace. i guess time will only tell how many friends i have!

thank you God for cabes

it is scary for me to even think about it, but this may have been the last photo taken of our son caleb (we call him cabes). he was driving this 4-wheeler on the ranch last week and took a wrong turn up a hill. because of the incline, the bike started rolling and flipping on it's side (with caleb still on it) until it stopped at the bottom of the hill in a ditch. the 4-wheeler was upside down pinning him in, unable to move. we all started running to help him right away expecting the worst and i was so amazed that he didn't even get a scratch. well, there was some mud plastered on the helmet... that's about it.

this story could have ended very tragic, but each time we pray together as a family, one thing we always ask is for the Lord to protect us. i know i can't always be around protecting my kids every second of the day so i have to trust in a higher power. i have thanked the Lord privately, but i want to publicly thank him for protecting my cabes. God surely has a plan for his life and i cannot wait to see it unfold!

widget update :: book of widsom verson 1.1

i was just able to wrap up a well needed update to the book of wisdom widget. you can now download the new version which fixes a couple bugs and various flaws. the most obvious change is the way it looks. this widget actually looks like a book instead of the black/square/oval thing that it used to be.

you can find out what the book of wisdom is by reading the original post

or download now!

enjoy!

mom and dad say no to folgers

for as long as i can remember my mom and dad (especially dad) would drink folgers coffee and i couldn't figure out why when had access the best (yes, community coffee). true, he does drink so much coffee that the price per pound was an issue considering folgers is like half the price. but still. well, i'm happy to say that they have converted! after hurricaine katrina hit south louisiana, they said it was the least they could do to support the local economy. i tell you i couldn't be more proud!

my uncle gave me a meat slicer!

yeah, that's no typo. my uncle bobby gave me a commercial grade meat slicer like you would find in a deli. this is not the sort of thing you could buy at walmart or just any local store. high quality stuff! i have no idea what i'm going to slice, but i keep thinking back to that sienfield episode where kramer gets a deli meat slicer and just loves it. i'm sure it won't take long to find good use for it.

good idea donnie, here's the photo. all i can say is wow!
